History & Impact
A Christ-centered mission bringing hope, healing, and transformation since 1969.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”
— Matthew 6:33
Where it all began.
Reverend James D. Bracken (1934–2012) founded the Mission Teens Discipleship Program in 1969 in Norma, New Jersey, after much prayer and after seeing the need for a more effective ministry for troubled young people attending his home prayer meetings.
What began as an overflow from those prayer meetings became the first residential Mission Teens center. After two years of little success, God answered Reverend Bracken’s prayer by giving him a discipleship program that brought immediate results in the lives of those in need.
That same Christ-centered program is still used today in Mission Teens centers, and the results continue to be life-changing.
Since 1962, Reverend Bracken’s desire was to minister God’s love to people. Over the years, thousands of lives were touched not only through the discipleship program, but also through his radio ministry, newsletter articles, counseling, prison outreach, and weekly home prayer meeting, which he continued for 35 years.
